Charity Stars Event
World Championship held to raise money for local Charity.
January 18 2004--It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to the "Battle of Detroit" a World Martial arts Championship event .. The event will be held February 20 & 21, 2004 with Martial Arts seminars in the morning at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn followed in the evening with a Stars for Charity event and a V.I.P. reception with food, drink, stars mingle and photo opportunities at the Hyatt from 6:30-8:30pm- sponsored by the MGM Grand Casino-Detroit .. The next day February 21st will be packed with action with a Championship Martial Arts Tournament at the University of Michigan –Dearborn Field House on February 21, 2004 from 10a.m. to 6p.m.. This championship is held for Charity and a great cause that touches 44,000,000 Americans without health insurance. 8 out of 10 of them work and struggle for a living. The Battle of Detroit Championships proceeds go to a Non Profit Z.I.A.D. Healthcare for the Underserved Inc. a 501c3 Tax-exempt organization that provides health care for persons without health insurance. Its goal is to spread nationally the work it started in Michigan, serving the uninsured. It has provided thousands of persons with needed primary healthcare to prevent catastrophic illnesses by detection early up.

The event that involves a V.I.P. reception and a chance to see many stars is followed the next day by a World Martial Arts Championship at the University of Michigan Dearborn that is donating the funds raised to the non-profit charity.
Many Stars will be on hand at the reception Paul Ganus of Midland who has starred in many TV series such "Vegas". He co-starred in DOUBLE REVENGE, before starring in CRASH AND BURN. He soon followed with starring roles in THE SILENCER, GOODBYE CASANOVA and LA ULTIMA LLAMADA (The Last Call). Other films include THE MASK OF ZORRO, MANAGUA, MONOLITH, FOREVER YOUNG, and LETHAL WEAPON III. Paul co-stars in the award-winning new feature film, NO TURNING BACK. Paul played the title role in the television series SHADOW, starring in 160 episodes, and co-starred in 120 episodes of DEMASIADO CORAZON, both in Mexico. He also had a recurring role on THE AGENCY, PUSH, NV, CAPITOL, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, DAYS OF OUR LIVES, RUNNING WITH SCISSORS and DALLAS.
Now starring in the series the "Circuit." Paul is a national print spokesperson for Nestle and frequent host of the Mrs. California Pageant.
Other Stars at the event will be Michael Jai White the Star in "Spawn"," Universal Soldiers"," Exit Wound with Steven Seagal","NYPD Blue". Michael Jai will be premiering as the Shaolin Master in "Kill Bill 2" a movie hitting the screens in February this year.

Vice President, Community Affairs MGM Grand a sponsor of the events will receive an honorary black belt at the event as will Barbara Farrah State Representative for the 13th District.
A community service award for teaching disadvantage children will be given to Marvus Cofield of Detroit at the reception also.
The VIP event packed with food, drink, stars mingle, photo opportunities and excitement will be held from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on Feb 20th. Tickets for the event are $100.00 donation per person and revenues are to benefit Z.I.A.D. Z.I.A.D. Healthcare for the Underserved Inc is a non-profit 501c3 that started in 2002 and now serves over 6,000 persons per year with needed primary care under a sliding scale program. 44,000,000 persons in America have no health insurance and Z.I.A.D.'s program work to help provide primary care and referrals to other resources in cooperation with private doctors that care about their communities. Z.I.A.D.'s programs started in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties and plans to expand it's programs throughout Michigan and then other states.
